Here is another AAWD! Have fun crocheting this beautiful mermaid using only four colors of yarn and six different stitches. Let's get started with her pattern!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • 4.0 mm crochet hook

  • Scissors

  • Brown yarn

  • Black yarn

  • Blue yarn

  • Pink yarn

  • Safety eyes or googly eyes, black marker, and a hot glue gun (safety eyes are way easier!)

  • Stuffing

  • Pink marker

  • And...that's all!

ABBREVIATIONS AND STITCHES:

  • MG (Magic ring)

  • sc (Single crochet)

  • inc (Increase)

  • dec (Decrease)

  • slst (slipstitch)

  • icord

HEAD:

Use brown yarn for this part

  • MG with 6 sc in it

  • R2 - all inc

  • R3 - alternate between sc and inc

  • R4 - all sc

  • R5 - make 2 inc and the rest are sc

  • R6 - all sc

  • If you are using safety eyes, now is the time to insert them between R4 and R5

  • R7 and on - all dec

  • Yay! Now you are finished with the head!

This is the head while I am completing the fourth round.

Here is the mermaid's head after I added safety eyes.

I have finished the head now! The hair is next.

HAIR:

Use black yarn for this part

  • MG with 6 sc in it

  • R2 - all inc

  • R3 - 2 inc, 1 sc, 2 inc, sc... (follow this combination for the whole round)

  • R4 - all sc

  • R5 - attach the hair to the head using sc

  • Tie off and turn the head to the side to create the braid

  • make a slst on the side or back off the head and crochet 12 ch and tie it off

  • make 2 more 12 ch strings (attached with slst), and braid them together

  • Tie the end of the braid, and the hair is done!

This is the hair cap after round four (R4).

Now I have crocheted the hair onto the head.

Here are the chain sititches, connected to the head.

I completed the hair! I put the braid on the side, as you can see in the picture.
