Free Crochet Pattern

Try out this free pattern by Wonderwool! This doily is extremely easy to create and is the perfect addition to brighten up your kitchen or table. With fancy ruffles on the edges and a sun design for the center, this crocheted piece is beautiful and original. Let's get crocheting!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • Navy blue yarn (you can use any color you prefer, though!)

  • 4.0 mm crochet hook

  • Scissors

ABBREVIATIONS:

  • MG (Magic Circle)

  • inc (increase)

  • sc (single crochet)

  • sl st (slip stitch)

  • ch (chain stitch)

  • dc (double crochet)

  • dc-inc (double crochet increase)

FOR THE DOILY:

  • R1 - Make a MG with 7 sc in it

  • R2 - all inc

  • R3 - alternate between sc and inc

  • R4 - Make a sl st.

  • Then to make the inside of the sun, the 'petals' - ch 2, 2 dc (make the 2 dc on the next stitch, NOT on the chain stitches) 2 ch, 3 sl st. Make the sl st, on the next stitches, NOT on the chain stitches. Repeat this 4 more times.

  • Tie off your yarn, the make a slip knot and attach your hook to the top right edge of one of the 'petals.'

  • R5 - Make 5 sl st, 5 ch, attach the chs to to the top right of the next petal, and repeat these steps on the other 'petals' to make a ring of ch and sl st.

  • Note: Each hole and each 'petal' are called a section.

  • R6 - ch 5, sc on the last ch that you just crocheted, ch 4, connect with a sl st at the end of the section, making a triangle of ch over the section. Repeat this step for the other sections.

  • You should now have 10 triangles over your 10 sections.

  • Tie off your yarn.

  • R7 - Make a slip knot and attach your yarn to the top of one of the triangles make a sl st. 7 ch, make a sl st on the top of another triangle. Repeat this step to make a ring around the doily, connecting all the tops of the triangles.

  • R8 - Follow this stitch pattern - 2 sc, inc all around

  • R9 - ch 2, dc, dc-inc, dc, ch 2, sl st, ch 2, 3 dc, slst all around. This will make the ruffles
